What Is a Weton?
Weton combines the seven-day week with the five-day pasaran cycle. Here is the calculation without turning tradition into a prediction machine.
Two cycles meet
In Javanese tradition, a weton combines the seven-day weekday cycle with the five-day pasaran cycle. Because seven and five do not line up after a single week, the same combination returns in a repeating cycle of thirty-five days.
The result is a day-name such as Jumat Legi or Selasa Kliwon.
Where neptu comes in
Each weekday and pasaran carries a traditional numerical value called neptu. Adding the two values gives the neptu total used in many traditional readings.
That arithmetic can be calculated. Interpretations that follow are cultural traditions, not predictions the app can prove.
A better way to read it
Treat a weton result as a cultural artifact and a piece of tradition. It can be fun to learn the terminology and history without pretending a calculation can guarantee what will happen tomorrow.
