Roll a six to get out, race your four pawns home, and send everyone else back to base.

The board game of a thousand family arguments. Each player has four pawns waiting in their corner. Roll a six to bring one out, walk it all the way round the board and up your own coloured path to the centre, and be the first to get all four home.

Land on someone’s pawn and it goes straight back to their base — unless it is resting on a safe square. A six, a capture or getting a pawn home earns another roll. Play on one phone, fill seats with Pip, or open an online table so everyone plays from their own phone.

How it works

  • Press Roll on your turn. A pawn can only leave the base on a six.
  • If more than one pawn can move, the ones that can are highlighted — tap the one you want. If only one can, it moves by itself.
  • Landing exactly on another colour’s pawn sends it back to its base. Start squares and squares with a star are safe.
  • A six, a capture, or a pawn reaching home gives you another roll. Three sixes in a row and you lose the turn.
  • A pawn needs the exact number to finish. The first player with all four pawns home wins.

Common questions

Do I really need a six to get out?
Yes — that is the rule here, as most people in Indonesia play it. It makes the start tense: some games, somebody waits a long time. A six also gives you another roll, so getting out usually comes with a free move.
Which squares are safe?
The four coloured start squares and the four squares marked with a star. A pawn on one of those cannot be taken.
How do I play online?
Choose “Open an online table”, type your name, and send the link or the four-letter code. Each friend opens it on their own phone and joins. The host can add Pip to fill seats, then starts. A turn left too long is played automatically, so a game never stalls.
How good is Pip?
Decent. Pip takes a pawn when it can, gets pawns home and out of the base, prefers safe squares and avoids stopping just in front of an opponent. It does not count the dice or hold grudges.
How many can play?
Two to four. With two, you sit in opposite corners. Any empty seat can be filled with Pip.

A game of chance and a little tactics, for fun. Online, the dice are rolled on the server, not on anyone’s phone. The friendships at stake are your own responsibility.
